How do you stay sharp?

By absorbing and trying to objectively sort through history. It provides context for—and an understanding of—human behavior but, perhaps more importantly, it helps one develop a sense of empathy. And that sense acts as a compass for good decision making day in and day out.

What is your perfect work week?

3 days. (ba dum bump!) Seriously, folks…

What quality do you most value in your teammates?

Dedication. I admire craftspeople who strive to do their best within defined parameters, even when it’s not the easiest route.

Why do clients choose Quarry?

A combination of factors draw our clients to Quarry. Things like displaying a genuine interest in their business as well as their individual success, a sense of warmth and approachability, subject matter savvy, energetic problem solving and, finally, reliable attention to quality in the end product we deliver.

Why Quarry for you? What brought you here?

Change.

What keeps you engaged after 25 years?

Generous collaboration. Variety. Possibility.

What have you learned to do as an adult that many people learn in childhood?

Hang on, this is going to disturb some people…

What is the last book you read and would you recommend it?

The Nightmare Years: 1930–1940 by William Shirer. Probably a bit of a downer, but fascinating.
